According to me, the Web 2.0 is an e-volution and not a revolution. Internet is changing and will keep evolving over the next years.
When television came out, it was in black and white. When color televisions became available, it was an evolution and not a revolution.
Web 2.0 allows users to become pro-activ by leaving comments, posting news / articles / videos, publishing web sites / blogs ... Participation and Reaction are the keywords.
All of this was made possible because :
- Users are more matured
- Broadband came out at a rather low price
- The Internet went through many business models
- Some of them survived and most of them died
- Technologies also evolved
- Cost of software licences came down ...
In short, interactivity is now the name of the game.
You may call it Web 2.0 or Web 3.0 - Interactivity remains a major evolution both at the technology and business levels. However, let's keep in mind that time is off the essence, and users too !
